GILROY – Celebrate the lives of those who brought and defend our freedoms at Gilroy’s seventh annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 31.

Memorial Day activities kick off at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, where Supervisor Don Gage and Mayor Al Pinheiro will speak.

Wayne Cegelske, VFW Post Commander, will lead an invocation.

At 11 a.m., the parade commences along Tenth Street.

See the CALSTAR Helicopter and P-51 Mustangs fly overhead. The flyover will be followed by the Gilroy High School Marching Band, floats, custom cars, street rods, the San Jose Sharks fire engine, Gilroy fire and police equipment and marchers from many of Gilroy’s different organizations.

Cheer for Grand Marshal Jenny Belcher, who served in the military in the early 1970s, and Gilroy’s many veterans.

After the parade, attend the ”Family Fun Day” at Christmas Hill Park, featuring a rock-climbing wall, bounce houses, clowns and a balloon artist, among other fun activities.

Custom cars will be displayed, as well as the CALSTAR helicopter (subject to availability).

Entries will be accepted through today, online at www.GilroyParade.com, or by calling Craig Gartman at 710-6090.
