was finally apprehended in San Jose, according to reports from
police.

A man accused of a vehicle code violation led police on a high-speed chase that started in Morgan Hill and was Tased when he was finally apprehended in San Jose, according to reports from police.
A Morgan Hill Police officer tried to make a traffic stop about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on a 2001 Ford van that was driven by William Kemp, 46, of Morgan Hill, near Condit Road and Dunne Avenue, according to Sgt. Jerry Neumayer. The van failed to yield and the driver was suspected of driving under the influence, Neumayer said.
The driver reportedly didn’t stop, instead leading police onto northbound U.S. 101. Along the way, the California Highway Patrol and San Jose Police joined the chase, which reached speeds up to 90 miles per hour.
Upon reaching San Jose, the van crashed into a city fence near Evergreen College, and Kemp exited the vehicle in an attempt to flee on foot, Neumayer said. When he was caught, he struggled with officers, who used a Taser on him.
Neumayer said a stolen license plate from a vehicle in Madera was attached to the van’s rear bumper. When the van was searched, police found “hundreds of cut and uncut keys, that he could possibly use for breaking into cars,” according to Neumayer.
He also had an outstanding $2,000 warrant for driving on a suspended license. Kemp was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, hit and run, evading a police officer and resisting arrest.
