A Chevrolet Tahoe flipped onto its roof after a collision with a compact sedan this morning.

The accident occurred on East Dunne Avenue at the intersection of Church Street about 11:40 a.m.

A white Nissan sedan and the SUV collided as the smaller car was entering Dunne Avenue from Church Street. The driver of the Tahoe, Judith Armstrong, lost control of the vehicle, which slid into a curb on the median divider on Dunne, flipped over and came to rest upside down. The Tahoe was traveling west at the time of the accident.

Morgan Hill police Cpl. Rod Krewson said, “Someone went through a red light.” It was too early to tell who was at fault in the accident, which is under investigation, he said. Krewson noted the driver of the Nissan was unlicensed.

The driver of the Nissan was transported by ambulance to Saint Louise Regional Hospital with complaints of injuries, which did not appear serious, officers at the scene said.

Armstrong was uninjured. She said at the scene that she was wearing her safety belt and was able to climb out of the extensively damaged vehicle without assistance.

“It happened so fast, and suddenly I was upside down. The first thing I could think about was getting out,” Armstrong said.

Traffic at the busy intersection was directed by MHPD officers while tow trucks removed the vehicles and the debris was cleaned from the roadway.
