Anthony "AntDawg" Figueroa, second from left, practices kicking with members of AntDawg's USH Fight Team from left, Brianna VanBuren, Benjamin Amezquita and Antonio VanBuren Friday at Gilroy Health and Fitness.

Gilroy professional mixed martial artist Anthony “AntDawg” Figueroa is scheduled to fight for the 125-pound title at the Coalition of Combat’s Pound 4 Pound event Sept. 15 in Arizona.

Figueroa, 32, who last fought in December 2011 and is the owner and operator of AntDawg’s USH Training Center inside Gilroy Health and fitness, holds a 6-6 career mark.

“I’m excited to fight,” Figueroa said Tuesday.

Figueroa, who is 2-0 in his last couple of appearances inside the octagon, will fight Fred Lux for the Coalition of Combat’s flyweight title. And although he was offered the challenger spot just one week ago – leaving him less than three weeks to prepare for the showdown – Figueroa said his daily training routines have kept him battle-ready shape.

“I’ve been waiting for this and always stayed ready,” he said. “They gave me a call and I said ‘I’ll take that challenge.’”

Figueroa’s bout is one of seven on the fight card.

NOTE: Brianna VanBuren, 18, who trains out of USH, will make her professional debut Oct. 20.
