A Morgan Hill police officer’s handgun was stolen from his residence, according to police.

The burglary happened Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The homeowner, an off-duty Morgan Hill officer, reported an unknown suspect broke into his house near the intersection of Dunne Avenue and Saddleback Drive through a rear window. Stolen was the officer’s department issued .40 caliber Glock handgun, model 22 with a Streamlight tactical light attached to it, department spokesman Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.

The MHPD and the Regional Auto Theft Task Force are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the stolen firearm.
