Two men were arrested the day before Morgan Hill’s Fourth of July festivities with approximately $2,400 in cocaine.

Emmanuel Perla, 18, and Edgar Hernandez, 18, both of Morgan Hill, were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on July 3 on charges of allegedly transporting a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

When Morgan Hill police officer Steve Pennington talked to the pair after he stopped their vehicle on East Dunne Avenue, he smelled marijuana in the car. After another officer arrived to help, he asked Perla and Hernandez to get out of the vehicle while he searched it. According to Morgan Hill police Special Operations Sgt. Jerry Neumayer, he found three ounces of cocaine under one of the seats. The two were arrested without incident.
