Eleanor (Martinez) Hungate December 3, 1941 – February 10, 2012

Eleanor passed away Feb. 10, 2012. She was graduate of San Benito High School 1961. She was born in Tepic, Mexico and is survived by son Jason Prater of Reno, NV, daughter Brandy Munoz of Mesquite, NV and four grandchilren. She is also survived by sister Yolanda Escajeda of Rocklin, CA and brothers Joe and Sam Ramirez of Hollister.

Car slams into tanker on Fairview Road

A car slammed into an 18-wheel tanker truck Monday morning, sending the Ford Mustang's driver to the hospital with injuries.

Abel DeLeon April 1, 1932 – February 10, 2012

DeLeon passed away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loved ones at O'Connor Hospital in San Jose. Mr. DeLeon was born in Mixtlan, Jalisco, Mexico to parents Leopoldo and Simona DeLeon.

Jose Luis Alfaro, Jr. September 22, 1973 – February 9, 2012

Jose Luis Alfaro (Little Jose) passed away on Feb. 9, 2012, Thursday at 4:00 P.M. surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Trinidad and Theresa Valdez and Wencelao and Adelina Alfaro. He was the first born grandchild for both families.

Robbery and kidnapping on Monterey, suspects at large

An armed robbery, carjacking and kidnapping occurred between 3 and 4 p.m. Saturday, when two males suspects armed with handguns robbed a 30-year-old male on the 7600 block of Monterey Street near Fourth Street in downtown Gilroy. 

MHPD investigates officers for inappropriate behavior

A recent internal investigation found at least two officers acted "inappropriately" in response to a suspected crime last summer, and the department took unspecified punitive action against those officers, according to Morgan Hill Police Chief David Swing.

San Juan to dedicate area’s first electric charging station

San Juan Bautista leaders are set to host a dedication for the area’s first electric charging station at Abbe Park on Feb. 17, according to announcement from the city.
