Visitors follow Wine Trail to Passport event

Last weekend, South Valley was bustling with wine lovers as visitors to the Wineries of the Santa Clara Valley Passport Weekend made their way to the area for the two-day event. Wine tasters arrived and ventured along the trail as they got to visit and taste at any of the 18 participating local wineries, and got their passports stamped to denote those they visited.

Gilroy High’s theater receives facelift with Measure P funding

Young up-and-coming Thespians will be happy to know that the newly renovated Gilroy High School Theater—currently receiving a $500,000 facelift with Measure P funding—will soon be open. The renovations themselves were “long overdue,” GHS Principal Marco Sanchez said, and he’s pleased with how the theater is shaping up.

Police blotter: Sex crimes against a minor, DUI

The Gilroy Police Department recently made arrests for a variety of crimes, including sex crimes against a minor, burglary, possession of a controlled substance for sale and inflicting bodily injury on a child. All arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter between Oct. 29 and Nov. 6. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.

Gavilan College unveils new veterans’ resource center

Gavilan College officials unveiled its new Veterans’ Resource Center on the Gilroy campus, located at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., during a grand opening ceremony Nov. 4.
