Each week we recognize one area male and female athlete for their performances on the field of play. This week's are:

Tom Bundros laid to rest

Gilroy—Thomas J. Bundros, who served three terms as a Gilroy schools trustee and earned the love and respect of colleagues and constituents for his devotion to family and schools, died Jan. 20 after a years-long battle with cancer and was buried with military honors Wednesday afternoon at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella. He was 67.

GILROY—The Cougars proved they’re no one’s baby sister anymore.

Everyone counts

Instead of tapping on front doors, volunteers for a countywide census traversed alleyways, backstreets, parking lots and the woods of Gilroy Tuesday in search of those who try to be invisible—the homeless.

Firefighters contain residential fire along Pacheco Pass

Firefighters have contained a residential fire that sparked just after noon Thursday in a home on the 2000 block of Pacheco Pass in Gilroy, CalFire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford said.

Gizmo is a 7-month-old terrier who is very sweet, energetic, good with other dogs and knows some tricks. He is sponsored so his adoption fee has been waved.
