MORGAN HILL — The Gilroy Gators saw six team records fall as three swimmers placed in the top 10 at the Junior Olympics Dec. 6-8 at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center.

Ready, set, fly: DART volunteers prepare for disaster

Early on the morning of Nov. 9, 21 Disaster Airlift Response Team (DART) volunteers came together at the South County Airport in San Martin to conduct a live training exercise, practicing to support simulated emergency airlift operations. After receiving text messages alerting them to report to the South County Airport, volunteers set up a secure operating area, received simulated “emergency supplies,” weighed and assembled loads, moved loads to eight private aircraft - seven light propeller planes and one light helicopter. Pilots then fired up the engines and successfully completed nine simulated supply missions by noon, accomplishing the day's goals:

Police blotter: sodomy with a person younger than 16

The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes this week, including sodomy with a person younger than 16, possession of a controlled substance for sale, first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Arrests were recorded in this week's GPD blotter from Dec. 2 through 9.

Sakata Seeds celebrates grand opening

Sakata Seeds, 18095 Serene Drive in Morgan Hill, had a ribbon cutting Oct. 16. Sakata was celebrating both their return to the Chamber of Commerce and their new solar power throughout their facility.  In attendance were Sakata employees, various members of the Chamber of Commerce and many more.
