City Council voted 6-1 during their regular meeting Monday night to endorse a longtime Gilroy farmer to the now empty seat on the Santa Clara Valley Water District Board of Directors, as Gage resigned from the board Dec. 7 to step into his role as Gilroy’s new mayor.

CALSTAR hires new pilot for its Gilroy base
Kevin Barber has been hired as a pilot for California Shock Trauma Air Rescue (CALSTAR), according to an announcement from cheif operations officer Tad Henderson with CALSTAR. Barber has been assigned to work at the company’s base in Gilroy.
Suspects arrested after string of armed robberies
Four suspects drove south on the U.S. 101 early Tuesday morning, robbing convenience stores at gunpoint from Morgan Hill to King City, where they were finally arrested with cash and a handgun, police said.Â
