Editorial: It is time to reawaken a sleeping giant
The city's signature event and its best chance for renewed economic activity has been dormant over the past four years, so it is good to see city council members are showing serious interest in reviving a Hollister motorcycle rally in July 2013.

DUI checkpoint planned for this weekend

Richard Rodriguez, Jr., 49, surrendered to authorities less than 12 hours after the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office announced a $250,000 warrant was issued for his arrest in relation to a bizarre kidnapping incident that happened in Morgan Hill earlier this month.
Pot burglars ransack indoor growing operation on Old Gilroy Street
Police removed nearly 400 marijuana plants from a building in east Gilroy, less than two blocks away from an elementary school, after a passerby reported what turned out to be “crooks stealing from crooks,” according to Gilroy police Sgt. Joseph Deras.
Momentum builds for a 2013 motorcycle rally
In November 2008, council members canceled the Hollister Motorcycle Rally for the second time in less than three years. Top officials in the deficit-straddled city decided financial security outweighed the escalating costs – primarily a $360,000 security price tag – which came with Hollister’s signature event.

Soccer: Christopher girls, Gilroy boys both improve to 5-2
