Could shared gym be laying foundation for future

GILROY--When state community college officials announced campus selections Tuesday for a pilot four-year degree program, Gavilan college in Gilroy was not on the list.

A higher percentage of students in the Morgan Hill and Gilroy Unified School Districts are proficient or advanced in the 2013 California Standards Tests – a major component of the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) assessment – than the state as a whole.

Selecting students for the Gilroy Dispatch's annual senior spotlight honor is no enviable task. That's why we make the principals do it (and they resent us for making them narrow it down to one!) These students have navigated the labyrinth of high school hurdles and we are inspired by their optimistic outlook, refreshing attitudes and heartfelt honesty.
