The first regular Board of Education meeting at Gavilan College since the death of Mike Davenport was weighted with emotion Tuesday night, when several trustees took a moment to remember their lost colleague before discussing how to fill his shoes.

Attention, food and music lovers: It's not too late to pencil in the Annual Spaghetti Feed and District Band Concert into your schedule. The event will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday inside the gym and cafeteria at Christopher High School, located at 850 Day Rd. in Gilroy. 

A proposed change concerning the provisional board appointment of a new trustee has been made to the agenda for tonight's Board of Trustees meeting at Gavilan College, located at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy.

Military veterans enrolled as students at Gavilan College are encouraged to attend a meeting where they can voice their ideas about how the college can better serve veterans and their families.

The Gilroy Board of Education unanimously approved a $16,500 contract for a parcel tax feasibility study following heavy deliberation during Thursday’s meeting.

UPDATE: GUSD Superintendent Debbie Flores said via email Sunday that out of 30 school districts in Santa Clara County, approximately 20 are not issuing layoff notices; the other 10 are issuing layoff notices.
