Editor,
Our governor proposes merit based pay for teachers. On the
surface it sounds like a good idea. Can it be made to work
equitably with school teachers? Who knows? Colorado thinks it will
but the devil is in the details.
Edwin Diaz probably thought about it for two seconds then decided not to spend any more time thinking about it because it is probably the dumbest idea Arnold has come up with since he came into office. Diaz may not do everything right, but he’s done right by this one. Maybe if you thought about it for a mere two seconds, or knew what it’s like to have to get certain children to do good in school, no matter how good of a teacher one is, you wouldn’t spend another second thinking about it either.
