The spring and summer program will conclude the season this week with 10 leagues participating in best 2-of-3 series.
Only one game, a 9-2 Dirty Dozen victory over the Playaz in Men’s CC action, did not end with a one-run difference. The Playaz had only eight players in the line-up and could not overcome the eight-man defense against the Dirty Dozen attack. Pete Quintanar produced three hits as the Dirty Dozen fashioned a 17-7 edge in hits.
One playoff game went to eight innings and three others ended with the home team scoring the wining run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Handmade Healthcare did not need to bat in the seventh inning in a 6-5 edging of Williams Dental Care in the Women’s B League opener at Christmas Hill Park.
Missy Howe’s two-run single highlighted a five-run third to give Handmade a 5-1 lead. MaryEllen Valdivia stroked an RBI-double in the fourth for the deciding run. Williams Dental came up with three runs in the seventh and left the bases loaded. Vicki Christopher hit a sacrifice fly and Maureen Hughes and Cherie Somavia hit run-scoring singles in the Williams rally.
RMC Engineering claimed the eight-inning win, a 6-5 shading of Dequin’s Auto Body Monday in Men’s D play.
Anthony Montez homered in the fifth to pull RMC even with Dequin’s at 5-5. Larry Montez Sr. opened the bottom of the RMC eighth with a single, scoring on an infield error.
Goldsmith Seeds rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to trim Dutchman’s Pizza 10-9.
Dutchman’s trailed 7-4 after six innings, then scored five runs with two out in the seventh to take a 9-7 lead. Diane Lujan hit a two-run single to tie the score at 7-7.
Goldsmith used four singles to score three runs in the seventh to steal the victory. Monica Melendrez singled home Antoinette Bowe with the winning tally.
The Good Fellas clipped Obata Farms 12-11 in Men’s C action when Ed Lujan singled and scored on an infield grounder in the bottom of the seventh.
Obata Farms built an 11-10 lead after four innings. Ray Rojas homered in the sixth for an 11-11 score. Jason Livingston hit two home runs and Mario Bena hit a single and two doubles for Obata Farms.
Carlos Garcia singled and scored on a Jimmy Hernandez two-out single in the bottom of the seventh to earn Krazy Koyote a 6-5 nod over Countryside Daycare in Men’s CCC play.
