‘Romantic Masterworks’

Gilroy – “Romantic Masterworks” will be presented by the South Valley Symphony at the Gavilan College Theater at 7:30pm Saturday. Admission prices are $20/adults, $15/senior citizens age 55 and older and $10/students aged 12 to 18. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free with a paid adult admission.

Blessing of the Animals

Gilroy – A Blessing of the Animals will be held from noon to 2pm, Sunday, at Garden Accents, 11155 Lena Ave., Gilroy. Hot dogs will be for sale for $2. All proceeds go to the San Martin Animal Shelter.

Fall Choir Concert

Gilroy – Gilroy High School Choral Program presents the fall choir concert at 7:30pm, Oct. 10 and 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, First and Monterey streets. Doors open at 7pm, tickets are $3 and available at the door. All proceeds go toward the choir’s transportation fund. The program features five choirs: men’s chorus, women’s chorus, concert choir, concerto delle donne and chamber singers.

Gilroy – The Gilroy Foundation presents the 18th Annual “Day In The Country” wine and jazz festival, featuring outstanding wines and food, and silent and live auctions. Be a Responsible Owner

Gilroy – As a licensed club of the American Kennel Club, the Gavilan Kennel Club invites you to celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership Day from 9am to 3pm, Saturday, at Christmas Hill Park. Community Health Day

Gilroy – Rebekah Children’s Services is hosting the 4th annual Gilroy Community Health Day, from 11am to 3pm, Saturday, Oct. 13 at Rebekah Children’s Services, 290 IOOF Ave. Free health screenings, medical advice and more are available. A Mexican Consulate representative will be there to provide information regarding retirement in Mexico, real estate in Mexico, dual citizenship, custom regulations and more. This is a non-alcohol and non-smoking event. The Gilroy Community Health Day Committee is comprised of local organizations and agencies that have united to develop and accomplish a vision of providing health, wellness and disease prevention by increasing awareness and access to health care resources.

Body Specimen at Library

Gilroy – A real body specimen from the Body Worlds 2 & The Three Pound Gem: Gunther von Hagens’ Anatomical Exhibit of Real Human Bodies exhibition at The Tech Museum of Innovation will appear at the Gilroy Library Saturday, Oct. 13, to accompany a talk about health and wellness.

The free presentation at 2pm will feature Paul Hepfer, vice president of programs for The Health Trust.

Fundraiser for Gav Sports

Gilroy – The Gavilan College baseball and softball 2007 weekend fundraiser will be held Oct. 26 and 27.

A four-man handicap scramble golf tournament will be held Oct. 27 at Gilroy Golf Course, 2695 Hecker Pass Highway. The $85 donation includes green fees, refreshments, dinner, golf cart and tee prize. Registration at 11am, shotgun start at noon and dinner at 5pm. Additional dinner tickets are $20 each.

An alumni baseball game will be held at noon Oct. 27, at the Gavilan baseball field. There is a $25 donation ($15 if also playing in golf tournament).
