If you’re ready for adventure, for serendipity and are ready to be entertained, fly, drive or run to Park City, Utah. It has everything rolled up in one fine, classy package with something for everyone, summer or winter. For those of you who might say, “Park City where/who?” Think 2002 Winter Olympics, which some consider one of the most successful Winter Olympics in history.
Think summer and winter
There are hundreds of winter and summer activities, as well as the Olympic ‘feeling.’ The Utah Olympic Park is a 389-acre venue where skiers competed in jumping and sliding sport competitions such as bobsledding were held. Utah Olympic Park offers year-round adventure, from learning about the park’s unique heritage on a free, guided tour or taking the ride of a lifetime on the Comet Bobsled. With a trained bobsled pilot, you can experience speeds of more than 60 mph. The summer bobsled is built on wheels and is just as exciting.
There are also two zip lines–considered the steepest in the world–and the Drop Tower (find out about that one on your own.) The Olympic Park also offers the opportunity to observe athletic training of possible future Olympians.
A former silver mining town
Park City is a former silver mining town found 35 miles east of Salt Lake City’s International Airport. This delightful town has the charm of a relaxed village with a subtle tempo of being completely ‘with it.’ There are all the amenities, outdoor recreation and entertainment of a big city with a laid back feeling. This is a place one might think, “How can I get to live here?” No earthquakes, no floods, no hurricanes and some of the most fantastic restaurants and entertainment found anywhere. What more can any one ask?
Gourmet food galore
Gourmet and basic restaurants are available within walking distance of most accommodations. For dinner, try Royal Street Café, which offers fine food and ambiance. Lunch at the Windy Ridge Café is an adventure and their wraps and salads are tasty and filling. The outdoor dining area is charming and comfortable.
Glorious spas
There are spas galore available for you to be rejuvenated after a day of skiing, horseback riding, biking, swimming, hiking or flying down the track in a bobsled.
