Dear Editor,
Cheers to Ranger Chris Crocket and his staff for their 6th annual Haunted Ranger station at Coyote Lake Park. The activities may not be for everyone – but we sure had fun.
It was an old-fashioned evening under the oak trees … pumpkin bowling, beanbag toss, tossing rings onto the octopus legs and playing jeopardy with questions about animals in the park with lots of prizes. There was a huge purple spider crawling up the trunk of the tree, live spiders large and small. You could meet and hold the 19-year-old albino garter snake and/or king snake, too.
Mascot “Bob” the bobcat was there. The visitors center had glow in the dark critters all over, and there were scary eyes starring at you from all directions.
The highlight of the evening was the horse drawn wagon ride with Ranger Chris Crocket. Driving down the dark long road under the oak trees, he told a tale, in a thick Irish voice of the ranger that use to live there. Thank you Ranger Crocket for a job well done!
