San Leandro police have arrested the suspect in the robbery of Union Bank on New Year’s Eve, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department.
David Allen Hodges, 38 of Antioch, was captured in surveillance images during the robbery that eventually led to his capture Jan. 9.
“Hodges was identified in part with the assistance of the public,” said GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza, who added the suspect was identified Jan. 7. “The GPD thanks the public for their tremendous assistance with this investigation.”
On Dec. 31 at approximately 3:49 p.m., Hodges entered the bank, located at 8000 Santa Teresa Blvd., and presented a note to a teller demanding money. After he was handed an undisclosed amount of cash, Hodges fled on foot and evaded police.
According to Espinoza, there were no injuries reported during the robbery.
The investigation is ongoing, police say, and the GPD is urging anyone with information to call Det. Michael Bolton at (408) 846-0350. Parties wishing to remain anonymous may call We-Tip at 1-900-782-7463 (1-800-78-CRIME).
