Police arrested Antonio Gonzalez, 73, of Gilroy, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon after he stabbed a fellow attendee at St. Mary Church, 7900 Church St., at about 7:57 p.m. Saturday. Gonzalez and the victim had known each other for about 30 years, and they had been arguing over personal issues. After church services Saturday evening, Gonzalez approached the suspect as he was going to his vehicle and started yelling at the man about why he was at the church. Gonzalez allegedly pulled a switchblade from his pocket, and the victim tried to run away and get on the other side of the vehicle. The victim got away, but got somehow was stabbed in the arm in the process.

A resident of the 400 block of Mantelli Drive sold five inactivated Disneyland credit card-shaped park passes often seen at local grocery stores for $480. The man, who allegedly sold the passes on Craigslist and via mail, is in Santa Clara County Jail on another charge. A report was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for a warrant to be issued.
Jewelry grab and run
A robber took more than $4,800 worth of jewelry from an employee at Ultra Diamond Outlet. The man asked to see jewelry that had been in a display case. When an employee brought the items out, he grabbed them and fled on foot. Items included a diamond cross necklace, a diamond cross and gold necklaces.
Smoking in the boys room?
Police received a report at 10:05 a.m. Saturday that unknown people had set a small fire in the bathrooms at Las Animas Park and tagged graffiti with a black marker. More graffiti was found on the walls of the men’s restroom wall and on the men’s room hand dryer at 8:52 a.m. Sunday. Police have responded to about 10 fires in the bathroom so far this year, causing about $1,000 to $2,000 worth of damage, Sgt. Jim Gillio said.

A man who allegedly fell down after being intoxicated kicked a paramedic in the face at 11:54 p.m. Saturday on the 7400 block of Monterey Street while being strapped to a gurney. A report was forwarded to the district attorney’s office for a warrant to be issued.
Brazen break-in and vehicle theft
An unknown suspect broke a single-car garage roll-up door at a house on the 8500 block of Larkspur Lane at 4:50 a.m. Sunday and entered the home. Residents inside the house woke up and heard the burglar run through the garage and flee in a vehicle. The victims did not see anyone and could not provide a description of the burglar. The person cut the phone line to the house, but did not appear to steal anything.
