Stolen vehicle
A gray 1989 Ford with its keys left inside was stolen from in front of the Salvation Army store on Camino Arroyo, between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. May 1.
Petty theft
Someone placed a Gilroy Police Department cat trap in front of his residence on Lilly Avenue and shortly after noticed the cat trap was missing, 7:53 p.m. May 1. A possible suspect was contacted and stated she took the trap because it had a cat inside. The cat trap will be returned to police later this week.
Animal bite
An unidentified person was tried to collect a couple of feral kittens and was bitten and scratched by one of the cats, 5:54 p.m. Saturday.
Assault
A male held a female against a refrigerator and spat in her face on West Ninth Street, 7:43 a.m. May 1. The male and female live together and have one child.
A female juvenile on Laurel Drive alleged prior physical abuse by her ex-boyfriend, Feb. 14.

A runaway juvenile was reported on Hoesch Way, 11 p.m. April 29.

Vandalism
A vandal punched a plastic illuminated Wheel Works sign on Monterey Street as he walked by, breaking a hole in it, 11:18 a.m. May 1.
Graffiti was reported on Sorrento Drive, between 5:45 and 7:30 p.m. April 30.
Identification theft
A case of identification theft was reported on Lilly Avenue, 1:13 p.m. May 1.
Non-injury accident
A vehicle accident with no injuries occurred near Miller Avenue and Santa Teresa Boulevard, 12:51 p.m. May 1. There was damage to City of Gilroy property.
Fraud
An unknown person made fraudulent charges on a Hastings Place resident’s credit card, 3:58 p.m. May 1.
Hit and run
A man lost control of his vehicle while going northbound on Rancho Hills Drive, 1:51 a.m. Saturday. He struck and passed over the curb line in front of 8785 Rancho Hills, struck the resident’s mailbox and tore up a large amount of grass. He left the area but was identified by neighbors hours later.
Commercial burglary
A burglar broke a padlock on a storage shed on Forest Street and stole a gray Dell computer valued at $750 and a white Kenmore sewing machine valued at $250, between March 24 and May 2.
Residential burglary
A burglar entered an unlocked residence on Filice Drive between 11 a.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. Sunday and took a Canon digital camera, a dark wood jewelry box valued at $20, and miscellaneous earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches and rings valued at $400.
Child abuse
An unidentified person struck a child on the back with the back of a belt twice, leaving marks on the child, 2 p.m. Sunday.
Auto burglary
A burglar took tools valued at $300 and identification and credit cards from a gray 2005 Honda Civic in front of Westwood Drive, between 6 p.m. April 30 and 9 a.m. May 1.
