The Longhorns scored early to open the game. But on Cambrian Valley’s next possession, the Gilroy defense pinned the Longhorns inside the 20-yard line.
Kristopher Dipko took a handoff from Brandon Villar from 8 yards out for the touchdown.
Gilroy got its second score after a defensive pass rush from Thomas Harrington, Brent Newton, Nick Olivares, Raul Flores and Patrick Mank caused the Longhorn quarterback to throw an interception.
Kristopher Dipko returned it for a 55-yard touchdown. The Longhorns scored again but missed the two-point conversion.
Midgets
Monterey 24, Gilroy 6
The Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget qualified for the playoffs. The first round will be Sunday at Gilroy High School.
