The Gilroy Browns Pee Wee Pop Warner team remained undefeated with its 14-6 win over the Salinas Cardinals at North Salinas High School on Saturday.
Brandon Bumanlag had a pair of touchdowns, including a25-yard touchdown pass from Sean White with 30 seconds left in the game to put the Browns up 12-6. Bumanlag then completed the 2-point conversion to put the Browns up by eight points.
Earlier in the game, Dylan Holler intercepted a pass, which halted a Salinas drive just before halftime. The Browns’ (5-0) defense – Andrew Brisby, Luke Young, Jaime Martinez, Eddie Vargas, Salvador Zendejas, Connor Robinson, Jacob Vaca, Gaven Doyle, Anthony Lealao, Tysin Johnson, Noah Laine, Christian Rodriguez, Sladder Basso, Bumanlag and Holler – has allowed a mere 2.4 points per game this season.
The Browns will put their flawless record on the line as they face another unbeaten team – the Campbell Bears (5-0) – on Sunday at the Campbell Community Center at 1 p.m.
• The Gilroy Browns Mitey Mites used a swarming defense and a 4th quarter touchdown from Brendan Doyle to carry them to an exciting 6-0 victory over an unbeaten Salinas Cardinal team.
The defense was led by Doyle, Andrew Broch, Braden Clark, Jonathan Rodriguez, Jalen Hernandez, Rossi Oteri, Nicholas Rodriguez, Elijah Sepulveda, Jimmy Galvan, Zachary Moulden and Charlie Good among others.
The 3-1 Browns travel to Campbell Sunday for a 9:00 game.
