With 14-2 title win, second-half champs face JR Brewski’s in
best 2-of-3 series
GILROY – Pray For Rain defeated Solid Ground 14-3 Thursday to capture the second-half Men’s E League title at Las Animas Park.

The win moved Pray For Rain into the best 2-of-3 Championship Series against JR Brewski’s, beginning Tuesday at 7:40 p.m. at Las Animas. Solid Ground, the first-half champion of the EE League, opens the post-season Wednesday at 8:50 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park against the winner of tonight’s tie-breaker at Gavilan Sports Park between Radiator Doctor and HMI.

Christmas Hill hosts a three-game playoff series tonight. Michael’s Mufflers and M. Rizzo Landscaping play in the Women’s D series at 6 :30 p.m. Countryside Preschool and Handmade Helathcare compete in the Men’s CCC series at 7:40. Interstate Fence and the Gilroy Clippers begin Men’s C play at 8:50.

Las Animas hosts a triplebill tonight, opening at 6:30 p.m. with the Men’s CC tilt between VFW Vets and Dee’s Nuts. Don’s Vending plays Dutchman’s Pizza in the Women’s C opener at 7:40. Los Chilotes plays either Dirty Dozen or Desperados in Men’s D play at 8:50.

Three tie-breaker games to determine the second-half championship are on tap at Gavilan tonight. Obata Farms and Little Pizzarena play for the Men’s BB post-season berth at 6:30. Machinist Cooperative and Family Affair meet at 7:40 in the Men’s DD decider. Radiator Doctor squares off with HMI at 8:50.

Victory Outreach opened the Men’s DDD League Championship Series with an 11-8 decision over Dan Keith Septics Sunday at Las Animas.

John Osaki hit a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning as Victory Outreach built a 5-0 cushion. John Jimenez lined an RBI-triple in the second as Outreach took a 7-3 lead.

John Jimenez went 3-for-3 and James Jimenez posted a single and two doubles for the Outreach. Kent Crowninshield went 3-for-3 and Bill Hudnell and Rich Furtado each smacked two hits and scored two runs for Dan Keith Septics.

The second game of the DDD series is Tuesday at Christmas Hill at 8:50 p.m.

HMI and Radiator Doctor each completed the 5-1 EE League second half with wins Thursday at Gavilan. Spencer Straub went 3-for-3 to lead HMI to an 18-3 victory over the Good Ole Boys. Johnny Andrade went 4-for-4 and Jerry Johnston homered in a 13-4 Radiator Doctor nod over South Valley Newspapers. Jonathan Mixter went 3-for-4 for the Newsmen.

Family Affair outlasted Team HJ-FX 14-10 Friday to pull into a tie with Machinist Cooperative at 5-1 atop the six-team DD League. Family Affair erased a 7-2 deficit after four innings with a five-run fifth, highlighted by a two-run home run from Manuel Gonzalez. Paul Musquez keyed a five-run Family sixth with a two-run triple.
