Three Gilroy-area ballers topped the list for the Monterey Bay League’s postseason boys basketball awards.
Christopher’s Xander Bowers and Chad Hartman as well as Gilroy’s Michael Kropff were named First Team All-League in Gabilan and Pacific Divisions, respectively. All three consistently scored in double digits for their team.
Bowers and Hartman helped their team to a 16-9 season record and Central Coast Section Division II playoff berth. The Cougars were eliminated in the quarterfinals following a 52-43 loss at the hands of Los Gatos on Feb. 28.
Senior Dillon Day was named Second Team All-League and received a spot on the Gabilan Sportsmanship Team. Alec Cordova rounded out honors for the Cougars as he was named to the All Defensive Team.
Across town, Kevin Azcueta was named to the Pacific Division’s Second Team. Eric Heiser earned a spot on the Sportsmanship Team and also received an honorable mention.
Gilroy finished its season 5-19 overall, 3-9 in league play.
