Christopher falls to Spirits
Early runs from Notre Dame dug too deep of a hole for Christopher to get out of.
The Cougars fell 11-2 at home Tuesday, dropping to 12-6 overall and 1-4 in league play.
The Spirits racked up six runs over the first and second innings and maintained their lead until the bottom of the fourth. With runners in scoring position, Morgan England singled to score Brook Loesch. Christopher loaded the bases, but Notre Dame was able to fend off the threat and keep a 6-1 lead.
The Spirits answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to lead 9-1. A Nikki Villanueva single in the bottom of the sixth scored Lindsey Buessing to cut Notre Dame’s lead to 9-2.
The visitors added two more in the top of the seventh for the final.
Christopher will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gilroy.
