Christopher racked up 12 hits en route to an 8-3 win over Monte Vista Christian Tuesday at home. The win was its fifth straight.Â
The Cougars only blemish of the game was a three-run fifth inning by the Mustangs which cut the lead their lead to 4-3. But the home team answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead for good.
Nathan Bonsell got the win on the bump, allowing three runs on five hits while walking four and striking out two through five innings of work.Â
Christopher (13-8 overall, 8-6 in league) currently sit in second place of the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division, behind first-place San Benito. It holds a one-game lead over Monterey and Salinas which are tied for third.Â
The Cougars will be back in action at noon Saturday for a non-league contest at Leigh. They will resume league play at 4 p.m. May 6 against Salinas at Hartnell Junior College.
Gilroy downs Palma
Gilroy’s bats were red hot Tuesday as it blasted its way past Palma 12-2. The Mustangs had nine hits in the game.
Gilroy drew first blood with a run in the top of the first, but the hosts answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. That was their only lead of the game, however, as the Mustangs would score three runs in the top of the second, seven in the third and one more in the top of the fourth for the final.

SOFTBALL
Christopher edges North Salinas
North Salinas gave Christopher a run for its money, but ultimately it was the Cougars that came out on top.
Christopher edged North Salinas 6-5 Tuesday on the road to improve to a .500 record in league (4-4)—it’s best mark so far this season.
Brook Loesch scored on a throw in the top of the sixth which would be the winning run of the game, giving Christopher a 6-4 lead at that point. North Salinas pushed one more across in the bottom of the seventh, but fell just short of a ‘W’.Â
Loesch racked up two RBIs on two hits with a double. Emily Fredricks got the win in the circle, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out two over seven innings.Â
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the second to jump out to a 5-0 lead. The Vikings answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored another two runs over the third and fourth innings to cut Christopher’s lead to one.Â
Christopher will be back in action at 4 p.m. Thursday to host Valley Christian.
Spirits rock Gilroy
Notre Dame racked up 16 hits en route to a 10-3 win at Gilroy Thursday.

Cougars sweep Mustangs
The Christopher boys volleyball team snapped a two-game skid with a 3-0 win over Gilroy at home Tuesday.
