Christopher High’s baseball team held San Benito to two hits on its way to a stunning 2-1 upset of the first-place Balers on Tuesday in Hollister.
Makaio Duyao was the winning pitcher and Jim Hagan picked up the save for the Cougars, who improved to 6-13-1 overall and 4-7 in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division.
Tyler Fhurong and Ralphy Ortega scored in the sixth inning for Christopher, and teammate Brennan Wilson finished with two hits.
San Benito fell to 16-4 overall and 9-2 in the MBL Gabilan Division.
SOFTBALL
Gilroy High’s softball team suffered a 1-0 home loss to North Salinas on Tuesday despite a five-hitter with nine strikeouts from junior pitcher Holly Lam.
Amber Gamboa and Kaylana Mah both went 2-for-3 with a double for the Mustangs.
Christopher suffered an 8-0 loss at Notre Dame of Salinas on Tuesday.

Christopher High’s boys volleyball team suffered a 25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20 home loss to Palma on Tuesday.
