Gilroy Mustangs

The Christopher and Gilroy golf teams finished their seasons among the league’s best Monday.
The two teams competed in the Monterey Bay League Championships at Rancho Canada Golf Course. While neither came away with a title, both posted stellar scores to end the season.
Cougar golfer Natalie Gutierrez led the way with a 96, followed by Gilroy’s Lizette Alcantar who scored a 99.
Christopher’s Alex Granados, Mia Navarro and Nina Velez all had scores in the low 100s, finishing with a score of 100, 113 and 118, respectively. Frankie Vannie rounded out scoring for the Cougars with a 135 and the team finished with a combined 562.
Mustang golfers Nicole Dan and Alessandra Esposito recorded close scores. Dan finished with a 131, while Esposito was right on her heels with a 139. Judith Diaz carded a 154 for Gilroy.
Robert Louis Stevenson won the MBL-Gabilan Division team championship with a 495. Salinas was the Pacific Division champ with a 527.
Golfers can still receive an at-large berth to the Central Coast Section tournament, though who had made the cut for the 23 open spots was not yet available.
