Gilroy Water Polo

The Varsity Girls Water Polo lost Thursday night against Harbor 12-11 after beating Alvarez 29-9 on Tuesday.
Against Alvarez, junior Erika Cates came away with nine goals and six assists. She had six goals and five assists against Harbor.
Ashley Harding had five goals with Ellie Pickford adding three goals against Alvarez.
Freshman goalie Anela Zamarron had 10 saves in the game. Against Harbor, Zamarron had a strong showing despite the loss, recording nine saves on the night and hung tough through the battle. Gilroy missed on 28 shots.
Gilroy will next travel to Santa Catalina on Sept. 13 for a 4 p.m. game.

Gilroy girls golf fall in two close matches

Nicole Dan shot a team-leading 56 against Monte Vista Christian on Thursday as the Mustangs were narrowly edged out 356-360 despite only having two golfers.
Alessandra Esposito shot a round of 61.
On Tuesday, Alisal edged out Gilroy 324-333 despite three girls hitting the course.
Asposito tied for the low round shooting a 45. Dan followed with a 49 with Vetania Carrasco shooting a 77.

Navarro leads Christopher past MVC

Mia Navarro was the medalist against Monte Vista Christian on Tuesday, shooting a 52 as the Cougars won 316-364.
Sara Finch sank a birdie as she and Jordan O’Keefe both out shot MVC’s low golfer with a 56 and 60, respectively.
Madisen Ruelas and Sam Vogel rounded things out with rounds of 74.
