Gilroy Mustangs

The Christopher girl’s basketball team was on a mission Thursday night: Avenge last season’s loss to the Spirits.
The Cougars did just that, topping Notre Dame (Salinas) 47-30 at home. The win improves their record to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Cydney Caradonna led Christopher with 16 points, followed closely by Christa Arroyo with 13. Ally Foster posted 10.
Sarah Muzik of Notre Dame led all scorers with 17 points. 
Christopher took a 22-15 lead into halftime and further solidified it by outscoring the Spirits 16-2 in the third. 
The Cougars will ride their two game winning streak into a 7 p.m. contest Tuesday at Monte Vista Christian. 
Alisal snaps Mustangs’ win streak
The Gilroy girls basketball team’s three game winning streak was snapped after a 53-43 loss at Alisal Thursday.

The Mustangs (6-7, 3-1) will look to rebound at 7 p.m. Thursday at Everett Alvarez. 
BOYS SOCCER
Mustangs top Salinas
The Gilroy boys soccer team won its second straight game, a 2-0 decision against Salinas Thursday at home.
The Mustangs scored twice in the first half with goals coming from senior Luis Urias and freshman Marc Rivera.  Gaspar Figueroa had an assist. 
Gilroy (7-1-1, 2-1) will hit the road to play Pajaro Valley at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in Watsonville.
Christopher ties with Palma
The Christopher boys soccer team walked away with a tie for the second straight game. 
The Cougars and Palma were unable to score, leaving the game tied at 0-0 after 90 minutes of a defensive contest. 
Christopher is now 1-5-4 overall and 0-1-3 in league play. The team will prep to play Monte Vista Christian at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday on the road.
