Gilroy recorded its first league win, combining for 232 points Tuesday at Pajaro Valley Golf Club in Watsonville.
Magnus Myhr earned medalist honors for the second week in a row by carding a 39 for the Mustangs. Avery Trevino scored a 45 and Nick Triolo finished with a 47. Alex Bakita finished with a 49, Desmon Hernandez a 52 and Brendan Peddie a score of 64.
Alvarez took second at the meet with 245 points and Watsonville was third with 252 points. North Monterey County was fourth (255), Alisal finished fifth (269) and North Salinas sixth (276).
CHS takes sixth in league meet
The Cougars took sixth place at Tuesday’s Monterey Bay League-Gabilan Division meet at San Juan Oaks Golf Course.
Kole Culbertson led Christopher with a 48 and Ryan Flores was close behind with a score of 55. Jack Chuck carded a 56, Dylan Saulo a 57 and Jimmy Vanni rounded out scoring for the Cougars with a 59.
Palma took first with a 184, followed by Hollister with 226 points and Salinas with 229. Monte Vista Christian was fourth with 234 points and Monterey was fifth with 246.
BASEBALL
Cougars edge MVC
A big fifth inning propelled Christopher past Monte Vista Christian Tuesday at home.
The Cougars scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, helping them to a 6-5 win over the Mustangs.
Makaio Duyao led Christopher with a 2 for 3 performance. He also scored a run and doubled. Brandon Cook and Anthony Rodriguez each drove in two RBIs.
Andreu Bartholic was awarded the win. He gave up five runs on nine hits through five innings of work.
Christopher is now 4-5 overall, 2-2 in league play.
Mustangs shut out by Palma
Gilroy lost 7-0 to Palma on the road Tuesday.
Stats and scoring from this game was not available by presstime.
The loss drops Mustangs to 2-6 overall, 1-3 in league play.
SOFTBALL
Mustangs blanked by Pioneer
Gilroy lost 5-0 to Pioneer in San Jose Tuesday. 
The hosts scored a run in the bottom of the first, three more in the bottom of the third and another in the bottom of the fifth for the final. 
Stats for Gilroy were not yet available. 
The Mustangs (4-6 overall) will play at 4 p.m. Friday at Mitty.
