Gilroy Mustangs

The St. Francis field hockey team was undefeated heading into Thursday’s match, but the Mustangs changed all that.
Gilroy defeated St. Francis 2-1 on the road to improve to 14-1-3 overall, 6-1-1 in league play. The two teams tied 1-1 in their first meeting on Sept. 24.
“Two different players scored, one player was named Player of the Game, but in the end that doesn’t matter,” Mustangs coach Adam Gemar said via email. “What matters is we played and communicated like a team. All 15 players got Player of the Game. All 15 players contributed to scoring. It felt good!”
St. Francis scored in the final minutes of the game, but Gilroy dominate and frustrated the hosts all game.

Gilroy will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to take on another tough opponent in Archbishop Mitty on the road.

“The great thing about our league is most teams (especially SF, Mitty and us) can beat each other on any given day,” Gemar said.
