The Gilroy and Live Oak field hockey teams met for the second time this season, but the result was much the same.Â
The Mustangs recorded a dominate 6-0 win over the Acorns Tuesday home, thanks to the always dangerous Katrina Carter.Â
Carter—who scored five goals in Gilroy’s 9-0 win over Live Oak on Oct. 2—found the back of the net four times.Â
The Mustangs scored three goals in the first and three in the second. Gilroy’s sophomores shined as both Carli Colyer and Maddy Cox came up with goals in the game. Colyer scored off a short corner in the second and Cox added a goal off a breakaway pass from Liz Clark.Â
“Our execution last night was one of the best games I’ve seen,” coach Adam Gemar said. “(I’m) really proud of all 15 players showing a lot of heart and effort teamwork vision and passion.”
Gilroy (16-2-3 overall, 8-2-1 in league) will play at Prospect at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Cougars escape Carmel
The Cougars remain undefeated at home, but Carmel didn’t make it easy them.Â
Christopher beat the Padres 4-3 Tuesday at home to improve to 10-3-1 overall this season and 9-1-1 in league.Â
Sherelle Butler was the game’s heroine, drawing a penalty stroke to secure the win. She also added another goal earlier in the game. Isabel Medina and Erin Mank also scored for Christopher.Â
The Padres saw goals from Daisy Perault, Jilly Empey and Haven Parker in the first half to give them a 3-2 lead at the break.Â
The Cougars will take on North Salinas in their third to last game of the regular season at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.Â
GIRLS TENNIS
Christopher routs Monterey
Christopher got one step closer to clinching a league title after a dominate 6-1 win over Monterey Tuesday on the road.Â
The Cougars (8-1) will play their final match of the regular season at 4 p.m. today against Monterey at home. This match was reschedule from Oct. 9.Â
A win today secures a Pacific Division championship which means Christopher will play Alisal on Thursday for the right to play in the Central Coast Section tournament.Â

The Mustangs won 25-19, 27-25, 22-25, 17-25, 15-9 in the five-set thriller over the Grizzlies.Â

The JV squad fell in two sets to its PV counterpart, 5-25, 8-25.Â
Gilroy will be back in action Thursday at Alisal. JV plays at 5 p.m., varsity at 6:30 p.m.

Mustangs fall to Harbor
Gilroy scored five goals against Harbor, but it wasn’t enough to come away with a win.Â
The Mustangs lost 22-5 to the Pirates Tuesday in their home finale.Â
Harbor led 11-3 at halftime to create a deficit Gilroy just couldn’t overcome.Â
Stats from this game were not available.Â
