Gilroy Mustangs

The Gilroy High field hockey team remains undefeated in the Mt. Hamilton A League. 
The Mustangs defeated Leigh 3-2, improving to an overall record of 5-0-2, league record of 1-0-2. 

Emma Leach led the Mustangs with two goals in the game, including the game winner. Katrina Carter added one of her own. 
 
“We are improving in all aspects of our game,” GHS coach Adam Gemar said. 
“We’re transferring, we’re passing, we’re playing better positionally. We’re getting better on our special teams, we’re coming together as a team.  Once the inexperience wears off and we start learning the actual game of hockey — which is happening everyday — we will be great.”
 
Gilroy will be back on the field at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow to take on the Acorns at Live Oak. 
 
GIRLS GOLF

CHS loses first match of the year to Pacific Grove
The Christopher girls golf team lost its first match of the season, but not by much.
The Cougars fell 271-261 at Pacific Grove Wednesday, giving them a 6-1 record on the season.
Christopher was without the services of No.3 golfer Kylie Kuwada, but were still able to shoot its a personal best round as a team. 
Christopher’s Nina Velez shot a 50, while Alex Granados shot a personal best of 51. 
The Cougars will take on Robert Louis Stevenson at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Spyglass Golf Course.
