Gilroy Mustangs

With neither team able to seal a win in regulation, Gilroy and North Salinas headed to overtime. Four minutes into OT, Gilroy rookie Cami Rogers found the back of the net to lift Gilroy to a 1-0 win over the Vikings.
Angela Leonardo dribbled the ball from end to end and passed it to Ellie Sausen on the right side. Sausen crossed it to Rogers, who was there to knock it in.
The win comes on the heels of the Mustangs’ championship run at the Leigh Roundup Tournament last weekend. Gilroy allowed just one goal over the course of the tournament and went on to beat Monta Vista 2-1, tie with Prospect 0-0 and defeat Corning 3-0.
The Mustangs then knocked off Leigh 4-0 in the championship game.
Gilroy (6-0-2 overall, 2-0 in league) will be back on the field at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Francis.
