Lincoln 41, Live Oak 13
San Jose – Unable to stop the big play, along with two ill timed fumbles, Live Oak lost to Lincoln on Friday, 41-13.
The Lions’ Christopher Mendoza provided the biggest punch, rushing for 115 yards and three touchdowns to drop the Acorns to 2-4 in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division play (5-4 overall).
Down 18-0, Live Oak’s Timothy O’Rourke put the Acorns on the board late in the second quarter connecting with Jeff Mounteer for a 20-yard touchdown pass.
Victor Kalata found the end zone again for Live Oak, running for a 1-yard score in the third quarter.
Leading the offense was Kevin Abbott who collected 78 yards, 69 of which were on the ground. He also had a 32-yard pass to Mounteer on the first play of the game.
Sobrato 33, James Lick 6
Morgan Hill – The Sobrato Bulldogs routed the James Lick Comets 33-6 Friday on Senior Night at Live Oak.
Sophomore quarterback Alex Meldrum was 7 for 9 passing with 88 yards and two touchdown passes. He also had a one-yard touchdown run 57 seconds into the game.
Sobrato running back Tony Zizzo rushed for 61 yards on 13 carries and junior running back Russ Tirey rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown.
The Bulldogs’ defense was led by junior Joseph Anaya, who had two interceptions and junior linebacker Shane Kendall, who had three sacks on the evening.
The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 4-4-1 and their league record to 4-2.
