Christopher's Isaiah Delgado competes for control of the ball with Monte Vista Christian during their game Thursday.

GILROY — Hollywood couldn’t have scripted it better.
Armand Kohayan scored the final goal in Christopher’s 7-0 win over Monte Vista Thursday capping off the last time he would play on his home field — it was also the first goal of his high school career. Needless to say, Kohayan could barely contain himself.
He celebrated by running down field, blowing kisses to the fans and making heart shaped hand gestures to his teammates. Even after the game the adrenaline still lingered, resulting in an ear to ear smile.
“For that to come in my last home game is something special. I’m just filled with joy,” Kohayan said.
Christopher struck early with a shot from close range off the foot of the always dangerous Hibsen Tamayo-Davila to put the Cougars up 1-0. He scored twice more in the second half to complete the hat trick and improve to 12 goals in his senior campaign.
“It’s nice to see them moving the ball like we’ve talked about all season,” Cougars coach Ricardo Espinoza said. “It was really nice to have all the seniors out here. All the senior played most of the game. It was nice for all of them to be out here together.”
Christopher’s Brandon Kim also picked up what are sure to be the first of many goals in his high school career. The freshman scored twice — once in each half — but the first goal was the most exciting for not only Kim, but the Cougars fans. The freshman attempted a cross to the far post from about 20 yards out, but instead the ball landed in the goal suprisinging everyone watching — especially the Monte Vista goalie.
“It’s just an honor to play on varsity as a freshman,” Kim said. “My first two goals playing on varsity in our last home game feels great.”
Giovanni Adame also scored for CHS in the first half, putting it ahead 3-0 at that point.
Christopher (5-7-6 overall, 4-2-5 in league) has just one game left, a 5:45 p.m. contest at Seaside on Tuesday. Despite a rocky first half of the season, Christopher was able to turn the tide and finish strong. The future looks bright for the Cougars.
When asked if he would return next season, Kim replied “Of course”. He started to walk off the field, but turned back with a smirk and said:
“Maybe I’ll even score a few more goals.”
For that to come in my last home game is something special. I’m just filled with joy.”
