GILROY — For the first time in school history Christopher walked away the winner of the crosstown clash with Gilroy.
Brook Loesch drove in three runs en route to the Cougars 6-1 win Tuesday at Gilroy.
The Cougars took control of the game in the top of fifth by putting up a five spot. With runners on the corners, Pati Soria doubled to score Nikki Villanueva. Loesch followed up with a double of her own to drive home Michaela Decker and Soria, putting Christopher ahead 4-1. Morgan England hit the third double of the inning to score Loesch and crossed the plate two plays later off a Mackenzie Holt single for the final.
Holt went the distance in the circle for Christopher, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out two.
Christopher (13-6, 2-4) jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first when a Loesch single scored Soria. Gilroy scored the equalizer in the bottom of the third when Ana Gamboa was driven in as a result of Nicole Green’s single. Gamboa and Green each had two hits in the game as did Alexis Conlan.
The Mustangs (5-10, 3-3) and Cougars will meet again at 4:30 p.m. May 8 at Christopher.
