Gilroy – Pizza N Stuff earned the Men’s C League adult basketball pennant for the first half of play by outlasting Eight-Ball Bail Bonds 66-59 Tuesday at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Richard Klauer tossed in 21 points as Pizza N Stuff finished the half at 5-1. Eight-Ball slipped to 4-2.
Pizza N Stuff took a 31-30 lead into halftime, then struck for a 21-12 edge in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Mark Cisneros dashed to 17 points and Eric Peterson provided 13 for the winners. Neil Garrett carried the Eight-Ball attack with 33 points, aided by Mitch Burley with eight.
The Big Dogs completed the first half with a 57-49 win over Triple Threat.
Curtis Gibson worked inside for 22 points for the 3-3 Dogs. Johnny Pacheco scored 14 points and Doug Wright added 10 for the winners. Danny Rodriguez hit five three-point field goals on the way to 17 for Triple Threat. Jadrien Garcia mustered 13 Threat points.
Handmade Healthcare finished the first half of the Men’s D League in first place at 5-1 after a 47-45 loss to CordeValle Tuesday at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Chris Vigilante carried the CordeValle offense with 16 points. Dan Crowe added four free throws in the closing minutes on the way to 11 markers for the winners. Armando Ocampo struck for 28 points for Handmade Healthcare.
Bob Lemmon recorded 15 points and Andrew Matthews drained 12 points to ignite Headstart Nursery past GC Farms 42-32. Michael Yoshida scored nine points to lead the GC offense.
Toto’s Stingers-Gavilan Honda grabbed the first-half Men’s DD crown Wednesday with a 52-41 win over Gilroy Young Plants.
Andres Espinosa poured in 22 points and Alex Rivas added 12 as Toto’s-Honda (5-1) snapped a tie for the top spot with the victory. Gilroy Young Plants finished second at 4-2. Keith Francis posted 12 Plant points.
Good Fellas turned back RMD Construction 53-36 behind 17 points from Mike Lazano. Fernando Perez and Emiliano Mendiola each scored 12 points for the Good Fellas. Benny Sanchez and Eduardo Gamboa each scored 10 RMD points.
