GILROY—ACT needed nine innings to trim No Soup 4 You 4-3 in the Thursday Men’s EE Fall Softball League opener at Las Animas Veterans Park.
Danny Hinojos and Joe Martinez stroked RBI-doubles in the bottom of the third inning to give ACT a 3-1 edge. Jason Salmon’s two-out, two-run single in the fifth squared up the game. Only one runner reached second base in the next four innings before Martinez collected a one-out double in the ninth and Abe Burciaga Sr. plated the winning run.
John Escoto went 3 for 3 for ACT. Jeff Maskell doubled and singled for the Soup.
Ninja Sushi exploded for 12 runs in the top of the seventh inning to complete a 28-13 victory over Claddagh.
Gabe Duenas homered and Ricardo Rascon tripled and singled in the Ninja seventh inning. Jared Reeves hit a three-run home run and Rascon finished with five hits for the winners. Willie Weihman went 4 for 4 and Gabe Andrade and Danny Russo hit home runs for Claddagh.
Wednesday E
John Gonzales hit a solo home run to help the Bash Brothers begin the Wednesday Men’s E Fall League season with an 8-4 decision over the Blacktop Bombers at Las Animas.
The Gonzales homer in the fourth snapped a 3-3 tie. Gino Martinez doubled and singled for the Brothers. Reggie Stanley and Mark Stanley each recorded three hits for Blacktop.
Albert Haro hit a grand slam in the first inning to send Next Level Softball past Sons of Pitches 15-9.
Haro added a solo homer, single and sacrifice fly. Jose Chavez went 4 for 4 and Chris Mazzula homered for Next Level. Joseph Tovar hit a two-run home run and George Vasquez produced three hits and scored twice for the Pitches.
The Expos scored seven runs in the third on the way to a 16-4 nod over the Borrachos.
Jose Gamboa collected three Expos hits and scored three runs. Nick McFarland drove in three runs with a double and single. Martin Serrano homered and Mondo Franco roped a two-run double for the Borrachos.
Tuesday EE
Ryan Tapia hit two home runs to guide Trevino Brothers Construction by Baker Pump Company 16-5 in the season opener at Las Animas.
Matt Gallindo and Rob Silvia each went 3 for 3 and scored three Builders’ runs. Anthony Silva went 2 for 2 and scored twice for Baker Pump. Aaron Dempsey added a triple and double, plating two runs.
Jose Vasquez hit a three-run home run and two singles to spark HD Auto Glass to a 10-4 victory over Feather Haven.
Greg Lucio and Joel Torrez each scored two Glass runs. Shawn Beall netted two hits and John DeCarlo scored twice for Feather Haven.
Graig Martinez and Donny Gooding each powered a home run, double and single as Recology bagged a 17-7 win over VFW Bingo.
Mario Gallardo scored three Recology runs. Jesse Barajas and Julio Zavala launched home runs for VFW Bingo.
