Red Phone: Low branches need to be cut

“We had a contractor do removal and replacement work on Camino Arroyo. The contractor was EF&S Concrete. Those guys put a stamp on every four-foot piece of their sidewalk repairs throughout the whole strip from the Outlets out to the county facility by Kaiser Permanente. Was that really necessary to put a stamp on every darn piece of concrete for the whole strip? Why did they do that to our streets? It looks more like vandalism than anything. Don’t let them do that to our streets in Gilroy. It looks awful.”
Red Phone: Dear Permanently Imprinted, The stamps with the year the work was done and the company who did it on the sidewalk were added at the request of owners of Glen Loma Properties, who are in charge of maintaining the sidewalks there, said Joe Esparza, owner of EF&S Concrete. That way they can know what work was done and who did it.
“There have been other companies out before us and by not knowing who has done what there is no way of getting them back to re-do something that has been damaged by the same tree roots,” Esparza said.
The sidewalks are looked at yearly to make sure there are no hazards, he said
“This is done to keep all pedestrians safe from tripping and the stamping to keep the owners from paying for the same thing twice,” Esparza said.

Follow-up on puddles
“The School District did a great job fixing the puddles around the track at El Roble School. Not having standing water is great for keeping the breeding mosquitoes away. They came through, and it should be good for a long time.”
Red Phone: Dear Happy Walker, Thanks for letting us know. We’re glad to hear the repairs made to the sprinkler system were successful as mentioned in a previous Red Phone.
