Born July 17, 1943, in Kansas City, MS, passed peacefully in his own home, with dignity, and surrounded by family after a brave 18-month battle with cancer on April 23, 2010. Age 66 years.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 30 years, Heidi. He leaves his children, Lisa (Benson) Look and grandsons Josiah and Nathaniel of San Jose, CA; Jeffrey (Tammy) Blatt and granddaughters Bethany and Hannah of Newberg, OR ; Raymond (Paula) Mays of Folsom, CA; and Douglas (Mishele) Mays and granddaughters Acacia and Alaya of Camas, WA.
Also survived by his mother, Eileen Blatt, brothers Gerald, James and Michael Blatt, and sister Joyce Douglas, their spouses and families, all of California.
Ron was a great lover of nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hiker, runner, cyclist and kayaker. He and Heidi delighted in their intricate gardens and innovative projects around the home. He definitely was our “anchor,” and a loyal friend to so many. Most of all, though, he was devoted to serving Jehovah God and volunteering his time to tell others about the good news of God’s Kingdom. He had a firm faith in the blessings that this Kingdom will bring – a time where no one will ever again experience pain, sickness and death (Revelation 21:4). Besides his ministry work as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he spent many volunteer hours in the Patient Visitation Group, providing comfort and practical assistance to patients and their families in local hospitals. He was involved in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Ron was a skilled plumber, and was employed with the San Jose Unified School District for many years.
Services to be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8530 Forrest Street, Gilroy, California 95020; Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, Ron respectfully requested his preference that a donation to the worldwide educational work of Jehovah’s Witnesses be made.
