PREP ROUNDUP: CHS volleyball upends GHS

After a rainout Friday, the Christopher High baseball team finally opened the Monterey Bay League season against Watsonville on Monday.
Brian Ransom had five strikeouts in five innings of work, and the Cougars topped the Wildcatz 4-0 in Gilroy. Nate Davis had a double and Ryan Fredricks and Patrick Valdez had two RBIs each in the victory. The Cougars scored once in the bottom of the second and three times in the fourth.
CHS (4-3 overall, 1-0 MBL) play a home-and-home series with Seaside beginning on the road Wednesday. The two teams will play in Gilroy on Friday.
North Salinas won the third Tri-County Athletic League Valley Division golf match of the season, using a team score of 216 to beat out second-place Alvarez (242) and Christopher (252.)
Alisal (263), North Monterey County (295) and Gilroy High (317) round out the six-team field.
North Salinas’ Olrick Breboneria shot a 37 to earn medalist honors. RJ Montez was Christopher’s low player with a 43. Gilroy’s Alex Siao carded a 44 to tie for fifth.
