The Gavilan college men’s soccer team dropped a pair of close matches over the weekend.
On the road Friday to face Oxnard, the Rams fell 1-0. It was an identical result the following day against College of the Canyons. Gavilan (1-2) is back home for more nonconference action Friday against Butte College. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
• Gavilan’s women’s volleyball team had a tough go of it at its own Gavilan College Classic on Friday. Hosting a pair of top teams – Feather River and American River – the Rams went 0-3. Gavilan welcomes Napa Valley and Porterville on Wednesday for the second of four nonconference Gavilan College Classics. Action starts at Noon.
• The Christopher High girls volleyball team participated in the always challenging Milpitas Spikefest on Saturday and compiled a 2-3 record. The Cougars’ victories came against Milpitas and Independence.
