Taylor Slattery scored two goals to lead Gilroy High’s girls soccer team to a 2-1 Monterey Bay League victory at Watsonville on Wednesday.
Maggie Trigo assisted on Slattery’s first-half goal, as the match was tied 1-1 at halftime before Slattery gave the Mustangs the winning tally in the second half.
San Benito 4, Christopher 1 – Vanessa Koontz scored on an assist from Paulina Llamas to give Christopher a 1-0 lead, but the Balers scored four unanswered goals to beat the visiting Cougars on Wednesday.
BOYS SOCCER
Watsonville 2, Gilroy 1 – Andres Jimenez scored on a cross from Gaspar Figueroa to tie the match 1-1 in the 16th minute of the second half, but Watsonville scored the winning goal only four minutes later Tuesday night at Garcia Elder Sports Complex.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Alisal 64, Gilroy 41 – Brendan Holler scored 10 points and David Gonzalez added nine points, but the Mustangs lost on the road.
