Dear Editor,
In her otherwise sensible (June 13) column, Lisa Pampuch asks
why Measure E, which supposedly had a purpose, failed with 55
percent while Measure A, which could be spent on anything, only
required 50 percent. This question shows her ignorance.

Measure E is a parcel tax, which is an unfair tax on the middle class. The millionaire in the mansion in the hill pays, the same apartment renter is essentially not affected. Measure A was a sales tax, which is the only fair tax, since it’s based on one’s ability to spend.
