HONORS: Gavilan employees of the month Gavilan College named Connie Phillips and Fran Lopez as its Employees of the Month for April.
Phillips is an accounting assistant in the Business Office and has been with Gavilan College since 2007.
When the purchasing agent went out on leave, Connie filled in as the temporary purchasing agent. Her approach to the new assignment was refreshing.
She kept up an excellent turnaround time for any purchase orders submitted and her follow up on communication was superb. The college is extremely fortunate to have an employee like Connie who is very capable and willing to accept the challenge of a temporary position.
Lopez is the associate dean for the Disability Resource Center and has been with Gavilan College since 1996.
Lopez is dedicated to her work and committed to making Gavilan College the “College of Choice” for students and faculty. Students’ success is a top priority for her. She spares no effort in providing the best services and obtaining the most innovative technology for disabled students.
Most recently, she has taken the initiative to bring awareness for the veterans on campus and established multiple resources along with creating a home for them. In leading the veterans project, she has shown her dedication is extended to others outside her duties and has been an inspiration to our community. Her work on the accreditation committee is also appreciated.
