Kaytlin (Kayti) Estes and Anthony Christian are engaged to be married.

Anthony, son of Jake and Laurie Avey, is a graduate of Gilroy High School and graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in May. He is currently in the Air Force’s Cyber School in Biloxi, Miss. and is awaiting the AF base that he and Kayti will call their first home.

Kayti, daughter of Sally and Rich Estes, is a sophomore at Azusa Pacific University and will continue schooling close to where Anthony will be stationed.

Kayti and Anthony met through a missions trip in Rwanda. They plan a July 2, 2011 wedding at New Life Community Church in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Joshua Carter

Joshua Carter, of Gilroy, was among more than 170 students from Whittier College who made the fall 2010 Dean’s List. Undergraduate students are awarded Dean’s List honors if they earn a 3.70 grade point average (GPA) while completing a full-time course load (12 units) in the fall and spring terms.

Founded by Quakers in 1887, Whittier College is an independent, four-year college offering a traditional liberal arts program integrated with both professional and pre-professional courses of study.

Paula Yost

Paula Yost, of Morgan Hill, was awarded an associate’s degree in health sciences from Kaplan University. The university celebrated the graduation of its winter 2011 class during a live graduation ceremony on Feb. 5 in Miami.

Steven Swift

Steven Swift, of Gilroy, was awarded an associate’s degree in business administration from Kaplan University. The university celebrated the graduation of its winter 2011 class during a live graduation ceremony on Feb. 5 in Miami.

Daniel Powell

Air Force Airman Daniel Powell (D.J.) graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas on Feb. 11.

He is the son of Diane and Danny Powell, of Los Banos, and the grandson of CeCe and Rene Michaud, of Morgan Hill.
