John Barbara and Brooke JuLyn Pletcher are engaged to be married.
Brooke, daughter of James and Monica Pletcher, attended Memorial High School in Elkhart, Ind. and Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. She is a professional health representative with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
John, son of Joseph and Paula Barbara, attended Bellarmine College Prep in Santa Clara and Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. He is a physician assistant at We Care Health Center in Gilroy.
The couple plan a Feb. 18, 2012 wedding in Costa Rica, with a sunset beach ceremony in a private boutique hotel with close friends and family. They reside in Gilroy.

Mathew Figone
Air Force Airman Mathew D. Figone graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Renee Perales of Hollister and Matt Figone of Gilroy. Figone graduated in 2009 from San Benito High School.

Eliodora Rios
Eliodora “Lola” Rios, longtime resident of Gilroy, turned 90 on Monday.
She was born in Del Rio, Texas, in 1921, and moved to Gilroy with her late husband, George Rios, and their 11 children in 1971.
She enjoys working in her garden and spending time with her family. At 90, Eliodora has 21 grandchildren and 28 great- grandchildren and two on the way.
She is always showing her family so much love. She is such a great person and they are all grateful for her.
